Situated in the heart of the Vale of the White Horse, 1861 (Wantage) Squadron has been serving the towns of Wantage, Faringdon and the surrounding villages with opportunities and activities for aviation interested teenagers since 1941.
The summer holidays have arrived at Wantage!
Air cadets are from Wantage are off to the Farnborough Airshow having been given free tickets by BAE Systems, while others are spending a week at Headquarters Air Command at RAF High Wycombe. Two cadets are off on an outdoor activities camp at Brunswick Camp with air cadets from Canada and from the South East of England. Its not just only the cadets who get a chance to go on camp. Flt Lt Nigel Furlong is taking a group of UK air cadets to Holland for three weeks as part of the International Air Cadet Exchange, where for three weeks every year air cadets from 26 different countries are selected to visit each others countries. Wantage squadron in recent years has had cadets visit the United States and Singapore.
